Transient

(From the CEO of Men's Backstage)

I was recently nominated by my good friend to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, knowing that the rising social trend has created a ripple effect among different communities (and even countries) since the past month. I gratefully accepted the challenge and recorded a video with two buckets of iced water along with my unflattering voice cover. In my mind, anything for a good cause!

There are a lot of trending videos in the internet with celebrities, athletes and whoever the big names from ex-precident (Bush) to the founder of giant company (Bill Gates) who made interesting and creative videos and attracted tons of reactions.

As much as I enjoy watching all these videos, I only did it for one reason, which was all about raising the awareness of the ALS. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons  die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

The ALS association has successfully raised over 22 millions within the past month. With my terrible and annoying accents, I urge you to join the movement. You can participate by promoting the awareness through the Ice Bucket Challenge or to make donations directly to the organization.

Please join me to make a better world.

* Noted if you live in California, the state has now prohibited the Ice Bucket Challenge in order to preserve the usage of water. Please donate instead.
